Self defense classes for women elkhart
Working women tend to feel invincible. Their independence is a sign of strength, and they often forget their physical limitations. Additionally, their busy lifestyles don’t leave enough time for them to worry about extra precautions when parking their car or walking home from work. They will take the shortest route available no matter how dark it is.
Self defense classes for women are spawning everywhere since women are in more need of learning how to defend themselves. Men do it out of interest and bravado, but for women, it’s something that must be learned for survival.
I am so sick of reading news articles about women being attacked, raped, or even killed, knowing that they could have possibly done something to defend themselves. Knowing when and how to attack an assailant could give them the chance to run away. It’s still an issue whether or not a women should let a rapist have his way to avoid getting killed, but I believe that it’s always better to learn self-defense and be prepared for the unexpected.
Here are a few reasons why I believe that women must learn self-defense:
Learning self-defense increases awareness.
Self-defense isn’t just about combat. It’s not something you keep hidden somewhere until someone attacks you. By attending self defense classes for women, you will also gain a better understanding of how to avoid these attacks. The next time you pass by a street you’ve been taking for years, you will probably start thinking about the possible hiding places of attackers, where you can run if attacked, and what weapons you can get your hands on if needed. It will be something that comes naturally to you, and keeping safe won’t feel like an added task in your growing to-do list.
It has amazing fitness benefits.
This might be appealing to you for aesthetic, rather than practical reasons. Since self-defense classes provide an amazing workout, they can help you look better as they teach you how to defend yourself. They also help a lot in increasing your stamina, endurance, and strength, so when you get attacked and you choose flight instead of fight, you will be able to outrun your attacker. On the other hand, if you decide to fight, the added muscle strength will probably surprise your attacker and make him think you’re not worth the trouble.
You get heightened sensitivity through self-defense training.
This may only come after some time of training, but it’s one of the top reasons why you should take self defense classes for women. Martial arts training improves focus and concentration, which are important in fending off attackers. A lot of women get attacked because they are thinking about their deadline or what to cook for dinner while walking along a dark street. With better focus and concentration, you will learn how to shut off those thoughts as you observe everything that’s going on around you. By turning on your own spider senses, you are more likely to detect if an attacker is creeping behind you or hiding in the bushes waiting for its prey.
It gives you more confidence.
The right amount of confidence is important both in avoiding attacks and in surviving them. Women who know how to defend themselves give off an air of confidence that might offset potential attackers. Rapists, for example, are known to prey on women who look like easy targets. Seeing your toned arms and martial artist posture will probably send them looking elsewhere. Also, if you actually get attacked, your confidence will help keep you calm and think more logically. You’ll have better decision-making skills in that split second when you have to decide whether to run or to fight. Plus, you’ll probably be more aware of everything around you that you can use as weapons.
